In the euphoria that has been the last week, I have forgotten to resurrect this blog as I have longed to do for quite some time.
Oops.
That said, there is something I wanted to do ever since they called the election for Obama on the 4th of November. As a Boston resident, it might seem like blasphemy or a slight to the holy relic of the bloody sock, but I can't hold it in any longer:
SO THERE, CURT SCHILLING!!
The democrats won, and scores of professional athletes will have to scrounge around in their couch cushions to find the extra money for their tax increases. After seeing Schill shill for McCain during this election season, I don't really mind all that much (not that I did mind before when athletes were still making tens of millions of dollars a year).
I know his blog has a classy response that's all-American on election night. I know he's going to be as good a citizen under Obama as he would have been under McCain. I am sure he's a fine person. But he's a republican, and he plays/ed for the Red Sox, so any amount of HAHAHA i can give him is fine. The Yankees missed the playoffs this year, and that's lousy. It was pretty incredible what the Rays did, but that's not the point here. The point is that I get to find my thrill of the right man being selected for the highest office in the country, and Curt Schilling (as well as A-Rod, Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens, I know) reach for their checkbooks.
I'm not really this bitter or mean. I just really hate the Red Sox. Baseball is polarizing. Sometimes, it causes people to think things about opposing players that aren't really true. Sometimes, we hate them just because they wear a jersey that's a certain color. Sometimes, we disagree with strategies, style of play, pitch calls, bad officiating, GOOD officiating. Other times, we smile knowingly, seeing our team win, and the possibility of a better playoff season continue on.
Cheers
